Fond memories of a blue glass bird at Grandma's house is what prompted a woman to request these figurines. Her Grandmother's ashes are nestled in the bases.

Two sisters had me design these window hangings to portray the lives of their parents. The sun containing the mother's ashes and the daffodil signify their mother and her cheery nature. The beads along side the stream come from a collection their mother used while teaching Campfire Girls. The father loved fishing, hence the stream and the blue ash piece at the bottom containing his ashes.

The buckle on the left was a father's favorite for many years. Knowing that a necklace was not his style, he asked that I replace the turquoise with a glass piece containing his daughter's ashes.

The vortex marble on the right offers an alternative to ash art pendants.

A young woman lost her boyfriend of many years. She asked me to work with her to think outside the box for this custom tribute piece. Right away she mentioned that he loved Pink Floyd and all things psychedelic, bringing me to think of glow-in-the-dark powder that I've worked with in the past. The pendant I came up with appears as normal in daylight, but glows in the dark as seen in the picture to the far right.
After a local copper artist passed away, his wife and daughter asked me to incorporate some copper shavings from his workshop into suncatchers to memorialize him. Copper is compatible with the type of glass I work with, and the pieces turned out beautifully!

These mixed-green paperweights were made to honor a father's Irish heritage. They are the same size as the suncatchers that I offer.

More than 50 colors of glass are available, and I enjoy creating custom mixes to fit the personality of the loved one.

One of the beautiful options for customization is the shiny coating, which is referred to as dichro.

Dichro is available in a variety of colors, and comes to me as a solid pane of glass. I can carve specific images from the shiny-coating, then work the dichro piece into clear blown-glass. Backing the artwork with a darker color of glass allows the carved image to appear. During the blowing of the glass, ashes can be incorporated between the layers of dichro and the dark glass.

The photos below show the versatility and beauty of this custom option.

This Ash Art ornament was created for a young lady whose father unexpectedly passed away a few weeks before her wedding. It incorporates his fingerprint and ashes. She tied the ornament to her wedding bouquet.

This Ash Art piece was created for a man to replicate his twin brother's tattoo.

This Ash Art pendant was created for a man to memorialize his infant daughter. It incorporates her ashes and the symbol for "Daughter". The father is an artist himself and he was able to come to my studio to talk me through the unique shape he envisioned.

The following project was created for a family in Ohio. This loving family had many pets, and over the course of several years, a handful of their cherished animals passed away. Each time they had them cremated and kept the ashes. Adrian contacted me before Christmas, and asked if I would custom create ornaments to memorialize their deceased pets. He mailed me a package with pictures and details of each animal, which I've included with the pictures below. He gave me "artist's liberty" to create a piece for each one. This whole creative process was a beautiful experience for me and, the outcome was a fabulous Christmas present for Adrian's partner, Greg. The family plans to have a "Pet" tree in their home every Christmas season to celebrate the life and love of their dearly departed pets.

Shaunda was our first little girl. She actually hated daddy Adrian when Adrian and Greg started dating. She ended up coming to daddy Adrian when she needed love and comfort. She loved to have daddy Greg hold her. She loved people. She never really ran to things, she just strolled at her own pace. Her and Thomas were inseparable. She would not let anyone near Thomas's blanket after he died. She was so stubborn, mischievous and the most lovable dog ever.
Thomas, our first big boy. Thomas was beaten by his first owner; and for that, he always remained very timid, gentle, almost meek but very, very lovable. People that didn't like dogs love Thomas. He would lean on your leg for love and attention. Thomas treated Shaunda like a mom and she returned the affection. He always wanted to be touching you when ever he could. For a big "scary" Doberman, he was truly the biggest baby.
Zeus, at every age, he still acted like a puppy. He could play frisbee for hours or until he dropped. He tried to sit in your lap like he was a lap dog. He loved to snuggle with his Doberman brother, Thomas. One time he knocked all our chinese food off the table and tried to eat it as fast as he could.
Tigger also answered to "Chunk-a-Poo". He would hold a "meowing" conversation with you anytime. He loved to lay on daddy Greg's chest. He was Greg's first "baby." When you scratched under his chin, he would hold your arm with his paws. He loved being around people, especially kids. And, he had the best "meow" I have ever heard on a cat.
Odie always acted like he had his own agenda. He loved being in the middle of all the action. When he wanted attention you knew it; and when he didn't, you knew that too. His cute bark sounded a little like a cough. He had a favorite chair that was positioned where he could see everything.
